KUPPET Issues Demands After School Principal’s Death At Home

Students and the teaching fraternity in Bomet County were in sorrow on Tuesday, March 5, following the unexpected death of a chief principal.

The principal, Mike Yator, was discovered lifeless in his home, which is located on school grounds.

His body was discovered on the morning of Tuesday, March 4, after he failed to show up for work, raising concerns about his health.

According to Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) official Paul Kimetto, the principal appeared to be in good health in the days preceding his death, and he was upbeat as he engaged with kids returning to school after half-term.

On Monday, about 9:30 p.m., the principal reportedly stated that he was exhausted but dismissed any health concerns. His body was discovered the next morning when he did not show up for work.

Following the tragedy, Kimetto wrote to the authorities, requesting that the school principal’s tragic death be investigated as soon as possible.

Executive Secretary Mary Rotich and Treasurer Zablon Kipkoech Rono, both KUPPET leaders from neighboring Kericho county, expressed astonishment and mourning over Yator’s untimely demise.

Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga verified the tragedy and stated that an inquiry was underway to determine the late Yator’s cause of death.

Hillary Barchok, the governor of Bomet, was among the first to express condolences for the late principal.
