Fallen Kenyan Officer’s Body Arrives In Nairobi From Haiti Peacekeeping Mission

On Monday evening, the body of late Police Officer Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai landed in Nairobi. He was killed while serving on a peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

The fallen serviceman was met with full honors at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Gilbert Masengeli, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, led a group of police in receiving the slain officer’s remains.

Nominated Senator Peris Tobiko was also present, as were family members and friends led by the late officer’s father, Salaash Kaetuai.

The body has been taken to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation while burial preparations are underway.

The burial date is expected to be revealed in the coming days.

Officer Kaetuai was assassinated by armed gangs while serving in a peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

The Multinational Security Support Mission acknowledged his death on the social networking platform X in late February, reporting that a Kenyan officer died as a result of injuries sustained during an operation.

The National Police Service later confirmed the officer’s death, claiming that he was shot by suspected gang members on Sunday.

Despite efforts to bring him to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, he died.

Kenya’s Foreign Ministry Principal Secretary, Korir Sing’Oei, extended his sympathies to X, stating he was “heartbroken by the loss of a member of Kenya’s deployment.”
