“Together, we shall forge a united force for the betterment of Meru.”
WE WANT PEACE AND UNITY in MERU COUNTY!

We all know our county is facing many divisions among leaders. As your new governor, my most urgent task is to restore peace and cohesion among the leaders of our great County of Meru.
He also told locals that he would engage them both directly and indirectly through elected leaders, emphasizing the importance of working together to overcome underlying challenges and restore the county’s glory.
He stated that his appointment represents the beginning of new leadership in the county, stressing that political grandstanding has come to an immediate halt.
Mutuma, who was sworn in on Monday morning, becomes Meru’s fourth governor, succeeding the impeached Kawira Mwangaza.
The court upheld Mwangaza’s impeachment on March 14.
Justice Bahati Mwamuye found that the petition contesting Mwangaza’s removal did not meet the legal standard for overturning the Senate’s decision.
He confirmed that Mwangaza received a fair hearing and dismissed her request to overturn the gazette notice confirming her expulsion.
A High Court judge presided over the swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Mwendantu grounds in Meru.

Mutuma was elected as Meru deputy governor alongside Mwangaza in the 2022 elections on an independent platform.
Mutuma previously worked as a senior officer in the Kenya Prisons Service and as a Reverend in Kenya’s Methodist Churches.
He has a higher diploma in forensic psychology and criminology from the Kenya Institute of Studies in Criminal Justice, as well as a bachelor’s degree in theology from Kenya Methodist University.
