DETAILS: What Ruto Aims To Achieve From China State Visit
President William Ruto will make his first state visit to China this week since taking office.
In an effort to reaffirm Nairobi’s long-standing political and economic relations with Beijing, the week-long talks with his host President Xi Jinping will center on debt repayment and finance for significant infrastructure projects.

These include extending the Standard Guage Railway from Naivasha to Malaba via Kisumu and requesting the proposed Rironi-Mau summit dual carriage.
The projects improve regional connections. We intend to complete the initiatives with the goal of improving commerce.
Kenya and China will formally sign bilateral agreements on trade, security, manufacturing, technology transfer, agriculture, climate change, tourism, and education.

“We are looking forward to completing our grid by 2030. We want to borrow the technological advancement of green energy through solar panel reliability. We want to encourage the Chinese expansion of electric automobiles,” Ruto said.
Kenya-China collaboration in infrastructure, commerce, and investment under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which takes advantage of the Beijing-Washington diplomatic repercussions from the continuing tariff warfare, benefits Kenya.
“It’s an honour for me and the people of Kenya to attend the State visit in Beijing. It speaks to the friendship between these two countries,” added Ruto.
