Joe Biden Diagnosed With ‘Aggressive’ Prostate Cancer
Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement from his office released on Sunday.
Biden, 82, was diagnosed on Friday after seeing a doctor last week with urinary complaints.
The cancer is a more aggressive form of the disease, with a Gleason score of 9 out of 10 and bone metastasis, according to his office.
Biden and his family are thought to be looking into treatment alternatives.
The former president’s administration also stated that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, indicating that it can most likely be treated.
The news comes nearly a year after the former president was forced to withdraw from the 2024 US presidential election due to worries about his health and age.
He is the oldest individual to occupy the position in US history.

According to Cancer Research UK, Biden’s Gleason score of 9 indicates that his sickness is “high-grade” and that cancer cells have the potential to spread rapidly.
The Cleveland Clinic reports that prostate cancer is the second most frequent malignancy among men, trailing only skin cancer.
The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that 13 out of every 100 men will develop prostate cancer at some point in their lives.
Age is the most common risk factor, the CDC says.
