Tension has risen at Eldoret National Polytechnic after a male student was stabbed to death by unknown attackers on Sunday night.
The event has aroused outrage among students, triggering a large police response.
The 19-year-old student was attacked around 8 p.m. while walking home from college to his rented house in the Cherunya district, which is roughly two kilometers away.
Dr. Charles Koech, the college’s principal, verified the occurrence and stated that the issue is being handled by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“We are engaging student leaders and security officials to address the situation. It’s a tragic loss, and we are urging students to stay calm as investigations continue,” Koech said.
The region, known for its big student population, is currently the center of a murder investigation.
