“I am A Walking Prisoner!” – Natembeya Decries Amid Gov’t Intimidation

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has accused the government of persecution, stating that his driver and security details have yet to be reinstated.

Speaking while presiding over the Trans Nzoia Jamhuri Day celebrations, Natembeya stated that he had nothing to celebrate on the national holiday.

The governor stated he is a “walking prisoner” who has been persecuted for criticizing the administration.

“I am a walking prisoner; my security and driver were withdrawn because I am talking truth to power,” the governor claimed.

However, Natembeya hailed his misfortunes, declaring that he would be regarded as a hero who stood by the people in the future.

“One day, when we are all long gone, you will call a Jamhuri Day to celebrate that there was once a man by the name Natembeya in this world,” Natembeya declared.

The governor stated that his oppressors, unlike him, would not be remembered for anything after their tenure of power ended.

The leader of the ‘TAWE’ movement couldn’t help but insult his fellow governors.

This came after they failed to stand up to President Ruto during the 12th National Government and County Governments Coordinating Summit, which took place at the State House on December 10, 2025.

Natembeya claimed that following the summit, the governors got on their WhatsApp group and began discussing issues they felt the president should have addressed, which the governor stated should have been highlighted during the summit.

“There was a meeting of governors with the president,” Natembeya claimed.

“When they left the meeting, they started discussing in the WhatsApp group what they should have discussed with the president because none of them could stand and say the truth.”

The governor also restated his opposition to the displacement of Ikolomani inhabitants from their ancestral land, which was recently proven to contain gold.

Natembeya also stated that certain Kenyans are impersonating foreigners in order to exploit the Ikolomani inhabitants for gold.

The governor has been a voice of the opposition in the Western region, countering the influence of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
