REVEALED: State House Road Rehabilitation To Cost Ksh1.6 Billion

According to the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), State House is one of several key roads across the country that will be undergoing extensive restoration.

According to a tender notification signed by KURA Director General Silas Kinoti on December 19, the road’s renovation will cost Ksh1.6 billion.

State House Road begins in Nairobi’s CBD and connects with key thoroughfares like University Way before leading directly to the State House, which serves as a critical road for accessing government buildings and the Presidential House.

According to KURA, the route’s renovation is expected to improve traffic flow along one of the city’s major corridors.

KURA disclosed that, in addition to the road leading to State House, 92 other roads will be rehabilitated at a cost of Ksh15.6 billion.

Other significant roads scheduled for restoration are the Mfangano Ring Road, Mathare access roads, Casaurina Road in Kilifi, Kagio Town- Kanharu-Kathaka Road, and Nakuru Town East Roads, among others.

Kinoti stated that winning bidders for the projects will conduct the renovation of the roads in accordance with government specifications and timetables.

Bidders must provide numerous documents, including a Certificate of Incorporation, an annual practising license, a Tax Compliance certificate, and a CR 12 form, to be eligible for the tenders.

In addition, they must have a current Registration Certificate for Access to Government Procurement Opportunities for specific projects.

Interested bidders will be required to deposit their respective tender documents in the respective tender boxes at the KURA Nairobi Regional Offices and Headquarters before Thursday, January 22.

Completed tender documents are to be enclosed in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked with tender name, reference number, and submitted to the Nairobi Regional Office or the Headquarters as indicated in this tender notice.

Over the past year, President William Ruto’s administration has emphasised the rehabilitation of major roads while also promising to roll out new transport infrastructure projects.
