Ndindi Nyoro Breaks Silence On Relationship With Gachagua

Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu member of parliament, has spoken out for the first time about why he never participated in former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment proceedings and maintained an unusual silence throughout the process.

During an interview with NTV on Friday, December 26, Ndindi confessed that he was present during the process.

Nonetheless, he never supported Gachagua’s impeachment, claiming personal rather than political grounds.

He stated that he disagreed with those spreading the process and would not participate.

“I had different views. I communicated and made it clear that I would not be participating,” ndindi stated.

“I also gave a rejoinder that any consequences that would come out of that, I would not blame it on anyone because, for me, it was more of a deeply personal reason.”

He addressed the aftermath of the impeachment when he was removed from his position as the budget and appropriation committee chair in the National Assembly.

“I was not the one who made Gachagua the deputy president. So how was it my role to do the otherwise?” he continued.

“My consideration goes beyond politics. What would god want me to do? I knew I was making the right decision by not participating.”

During the same interview, the legislator discussed his relationships with significant political figures such as Rigathi Gachagua and President William Ruto.

He said that he has since modified his political techniques, preferring constructive criticism over mismatching, name-calling, and abuse, which have long been used by many Kenyan politicians.

“In politics, I decided not to be anyone’s enemy. The last time I spoke with the president was when I was the chairman of the budget committee. Rigathi Gachagua is my friend,” he reiterated.

His remarks came more than a year after the contentious impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.

Ndindi kept a low profile during the impeachment process, which Ruto’s team interpreted as treason, prompting his expulsion from his lucrative seat in the national assembly.

The legislators did not sign the motion or participate in the debating and voting procedure.

Ndindi has emerged as a prospective challenger to President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections, while not formally stating his presidential ambitions.

The legislator has since become the greatest critic of Ruto’s government, especially on economic policies, specifically on borrowing and revenue projections.
