KPL Football Star Passes Away Following A Family Attack
The passing of Silas Abungana, a midfielder for the Kakamega Homeboyz, has left the Kenyan Premier League football community in sadness.
After a family argument, Abungana was allegedly attacked and died.
Reports state that Abungana passed away after being stabbed by his younger brother during a fight over wife-related matters.
According to reports, family members pushed him to divorce his wife since they didn’t think they were a good fit. The argument apparently turned violent.

The club said in a statement on Thursday, February 5, that Silas passed away after the attack due to head injuries.
He died shortly before midnight on Wednesday, February 4, while undergoing treatment at Kakamega County General Hospital.
According to the club, Abungana was taken to Kakamega County General Hospital after the attack and was being treated when his health worsened.

Despite medical efforts, Abungana, who joined the KPL team from Gucha FC, died, leaving the club and football fraternity devastated.
The incident apparently took place on the night of Tuesday, February 3, just a few days after the player appeared in a Premier League match against Mara Sugar FC.
“Kakamega Homeboyz Football Club is deeply devastated by the untimely demise of Silas Abungana,” the team confirmed in a statement.

This follows the passing of their player who had played just 10 matches since his switch from Gucha FC.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we respectfully request privacy for Silas’ family, teammates, friends, and club officials as we come to terms with this unimaginable loss.”
Fans and teammates flocked to social media to express their sympathies and recognize Silas’ talent and services to Kenyan football.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) issued a condolence message on the passing of the Homeboyz midfielder, whose team currently sits sixth in the FKF Premier League table.
