ODM Removes Vocal MP From Its National Election Committee
Caleb Amisi, a Saboti Member of Parliament, has been booted out of the ODM party’s National Election Committee (NEC).
He confirmed the news in an interview with Radio Generation on Wednesday, February 11.
This comes after numerous emails on social media saying that he was booted out of the party position.
Amisi claims he received a letter from the NEC informing him of his expulsion, saying that he held two party posts that the committee believes are illegal under the party’s constitution.
“What people are not aware of is that they have already kicked me out. I have a letter here sent from the NEC,” he stated.
“The reason they say is that I hold two positions. They claim that I am a county chair and at the same time I hold the position of ODM Deputy Organising Secretary.”

However, Amisi contends that his removal from the committee was not procedural, citing party procedures for removing a member from the committee.
He contends that before a member is removed from any position, the NEC must convene and either unanimously agree or vote to remove the member before giving the victim the ability to respond.
“For you to remove a NEC member, there are procedures. You do not just write letters from Bondo and send them on WhatsApp,” he added.
“The NEC must meet, they must agree, or by a vote that you are supposed to leave and you are supposed be given a right of reply, there must be a hearing.”
Amisi claims to have held the position of Deputy Organising Secretary after being invited by the party’s long-time leader, Raila Odinga, to fill the void left by the previous incumbent.

He stated that Raila’s appointment was approved by the same committee.
He claims that at the time he took on the post, he was already the county chairperson, claiming that if having multiple party positions was illegal, it was the ODM party’s fault.
“Raila called me and asked if I was willing to fill the position, and I accepted, and the committee passed,” Amisi said, adding that the party was distracting itself.
“At that time, I was already the chairman of the county.”
