“Ruto Threatened Him!” – Gachagua Narrates Late MP’s Experience During Impeachment
Rigathi Gachagua, the leader of the Democracy of the Citizens Party (DCP), has spoken out following the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno.
Gachagua has made bombshell charges about threats made to force the lawmaker’s hand during his impeachment proceedings last year.
Gachagua reported that Ng’eno approached him at 2 a.m. in tears, delivering messages from President William Ruto scaring him with severe consequences if he refused to sign the impeachment petition.
On March 1, he spoke during a church service at AIPCA Nyandarua North Diocese in Nyandarua County.
βHe came to see me and showed me messages that William Ruto had sent him, threatening him that if he didn’t impeach me, he would face dire consequences, and he was crying. He came at 2 a.m. in the morning,β highlighted Gachagua.

The former DP alleged that he encouraged the obviously scared MP to sign, arguing that Ruto already had the numbers and that opposing would endanger Ng’eno and his family.
βI listened to him, and I told him Ruto has the numbers; he has bought everybody, even if you don’t sign that impeachment, it will change nothing,β stated Gachagua.
“Instead of endangering you and your life and your family, just go ahead and sign. He signed with a lot of tears.”
Ng’eno, according to Gachagua, signed the motion while in tears. The MP was one among the 281 National Assembly members who voted to impeach Gachagua on October 8, 2024.

The Senate later judged Gachagua guilty of five counts, including egregious violation of the Constitution, corruption, and insubordination, and formally removed him from office on October 17, 2024.
Gachagua further says that Ruto’s administration bugged his hotel room in Kisumu when Ng’eno paid a visit.
He also claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was apparently recording their conversation and relaying it back to the President.
He says Ng’eno had travelled to Kisumu specifically to warn him that a scheme was underway to oust him from the deputy presidency, telling him the plan would destabilise Ruto’s own government.
Gachagua adds that Nyali MP Mohammad Ali faced similar intimidation, sharing messages Ruto had allegedly sent from the United States threatening him over the impeachment.

The former DP insists he and Ng’eno remained in close contact even after the impeachment, speaking as recently as last Sunday, before the MP encouraged him to visit Bomet.
Ng’eno died on February 28, when a private helicopter, registration 5Y-DSB, crashed in the Chepkieb area of Mosop, Nandi County, at around 4:45 PM, killing all six people on board.
Gachagua went on to call for thorough investigations into the crash.
He stated that no national body should investigate the crash, but international bodies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and many other relevant international bodies.
