Iran Blasts Kenya’s Stance on Ongoing U.S-Israel Aggression, Vows Continued Self Defence
The Iranian Embassy in Nairobi has hit back at Kenya after the Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary, Korir Singoei, publicly expressed concern over Iranian strikes on Gulf countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a statement on Tuesday, April 7, the embassy rejected accusations that Iran is the aggressor in recent attacks on Gulf countries, stating that the nation was simply lawfully responding to initial US and Israeli attacks on its soil.
The embassy argued that strikes on Gulf infrastructure, which have included drones and ballistic missiles, are part of a broader defensive posture following the large-scale offensive by US and Israeli forces that began in late February.
“For months, we had warned neighbouring countries, particularly those along the Persian Gulf, that any aggression from their soil against Iran would be met with our inherent right to self-defence,” the Iranian embassy stated.
“Our response has been strictly in exercise of our inherent right to self‑defense, consistent with international law and the principles of proportionality, necessity, and discrimination,” it added.
Your Excellency, allow us to comment on this post in which we are of the view that it has missed a few important chapters of international law:

Singoei, on April 1, condemned the attacks by Iran on the UAE after a successful phone call with an assistant minister of foreign affairs for energy and sustainability of the UAE.
In his statement, the PS termed the attacks unjustified, as they also targeted critical infrastructure and posed economic and environmental threats to the world.
Singoei conveyed Kenya’s solidarity with the UAE, which was in line with President William Ruto’s position on the matter.
“I conveyed to him Kenya’s solidarity- in line with President Ruto’s well-stated position on this matter- and assured him of our readiness to work with the UAE to respond through diplomatic means to this escalating situation,” the president said in a statement on his social media pages.
Earlier in March, President Ruto also condemned Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Gulf states, warning that the widening conflict in the region threatened to sabotage international peace and security.

“At this defining and perilous moment in global history, longstanding multilateral institutions remain indispensable frameworks for the resolution of the current crisis in the Middle East,” Ruto stated in a statement on March 2.
“Kenya calls for urgent multi-stakeholder engagement towards de-escalation.”
In its response, Iran called on Kenya to stand on the right side of history and condemn Israel and the US for their attacks on Iran, with the Islamic State reaffirming its readiness to find a lasting solution based on mutual respect.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran expects all free and independent nations to stand on the right side of history and condemn the aggressors.
“We reaffirm our readiness for diplomatic solutions based on mutual respect and international law, but will not hesitate to defend our sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security,” the statement added.
