EACC Arrests THREE Civil Servants Over Fake Academic Certificates
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three officials for allegedly using forged academic certificates to fraudulently make a combined Ksh17.9 million in salaries.
According to the notice released by EACC on May 12, two suspects are employees of Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC), and the other is a staff member at Kaimosi Friends University in Vihiga County.
βThe Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three officials as part of an ongoing crackdown on the use of forged academic certificates,β stated EACC.
EACC established that the two NCWSC officials each fabricated Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificates and masqueraded them as genuine documents issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to secure employment.
After wrapping up its probe, the EACC forwarded both files to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved charges of forgery, uttering a false document, and fraudulent acquisition of public property against the two men.

The trio had accumulated a combined salary of Ksh17,905,887.06 in salaries over the period they had been operating with forged academic certificates.
According to theΒ Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, one of the two NCWSC officials earned Ksh 5,909,037.10 in salaries, while the other received Ksh 9,485,177.96.
These amounts, prosecutors say, were paid based on qualifications the two men never legitimately obtained.
The two were arrested on May 11, 2026, and taken to the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where they denied all the charges levelled against them before the presiding magistrate granted them bail and bond terms.
The court released each of them on a cash bail of Ksh300,000 or a bond of Ksh1 million with a surety of a similar amount, and scheduled May 26, 2026, for mention of the cases.
The third suspect faces a separate but equally serious set of allegations involving not one but two forged certificates that he used to land a job at Kaimosi Friends University in Vihiga County.
He allegedly forged a Diploma certificate purportedly from Kenya College of Commerce (KCC) and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree purportedly from Zetech University.
He submitted both as genuine qualifications to secure university employment as per EACC probe.
