“I Want To Be Richer Than Moi, Kenyatta Families Combined!” – Ruto To Gachagua From Secret Talks
Rigathi Gachagua, the leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), claims that President William Ruto allegedly told him that he wants to collect more wealth than some of Kenya’s richest families.
The DCP leader, who is currently on a political trip in the United Kingdom, claimed that while still enjoying a strong bromance with the President, he stated that he intends to be wealthier than the Kenyatta and Moi families.
The two families are well-known for their generational riches, which stems from Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s founding father and first president, and his successor, Daniel Arap Moi.
“The president came to look for wealth and in the process he has destroyed the country,” he said in an interview with Kenya Newsline.
”When we were together, Ruto told me his dream was to become richer than the family of Kenyatta and the family of Moi combined. And it is true. He has achieved it in 4 years’- Riggy G from UK pic.twitter.com/8A8dWNiyHh— Jim Njue (@jimNjue_) May 20, 2026
“He is wealthy and I remember, when we were in good books, he told me that in 5 years he wants to be richer than the family of Kenyatta and Moi combined.”
He alleged that President Ruto has achieved his goal in just four years, however, at the expense of running public resources dry.
“It looked like a toll order to me and he said that he will be. Today, it is true that he is richer than both families but in the process, he has destroyed everything,” he claimed.

The former Deputy President argued that many political leaders fail to execute their mandate because they seek elective seats to fatten their pockets and abandon their mandate.
“Leadership is a calling and not a ladder to wealth. It is not a formula for richness; it is about service. That is why you find many leaders who came to Parliament to look for wealth will not be re-elected,” he said.
Being a political premier in the United Opposition, a faction that seeks to oust President Ruto in the 2027 General Election, Gachagua said that leading the nation to recovery will be an arduous task for the next regime.
“Even as we are looking for leadership, we will have a difficult time because we will have to start from scratch to restore Kenya,” he said.
Gachagua, alongside political leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua and others, have been faulting Mr. Ruto’s leadership, accusing him of incompetence and being corrupt.
