Ruto Orders ONLY Ksh10 Fuel Price Cut, Effective For June-July Cycle
President William Ruto has directed a further reduction of diesel prices by Ksh10 for the June to July pricing cycle to stabilise pump prices and cushion consumers.
The imminent price reduction follows an overnight consultative meeting with public transport operators over an increase in diesel and super petrol prices during the recent pump price review.
“I have directed, after consultations with leaders here from the transport sector, and we had many hours of consultations with them,” said Ruto.
“I have directed that in the pricing cycle, we are going to further reduce the prices of diesel by Ksh10 for June to July.”
Following the price revision, diesel prices in Nairobi will retail at Ksh222.86, Kerosene at Ksh191.38 and super petrol at Ksh214.25 from June 15.
This comes after Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced the rollout of a biofuel blending programme.

The project aims to reduce Kenya’s dependence on imported fuel and stabilise pump prices amid the ongoing Middle East crisis.
The move follows the implementation of the Biofuels Regulations of 2025, which will allow Kenya to start mixing small amounts of locally produced ethanol with regular petrol.
“The initiative is part of broader national efforts to strengthen energy security, diversify energy sources, and reduce dependence on imported fuel,” EPRA announced.
Under the plan, some fuel will contain 5 per cent ethanol while others will contain 10 per cent ethanol as the government pushes for cheaper and cleaner energy alternatives.
