THREE Scammers Charged For Fake TSC, Police Recruitment
Three people have been charged at the Sotik Law Courts in Bomet County with allegedly deceiving job seekers by falsely promising employment with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the National Police Service (NPS).
The three appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Kimutai Matata on conspiracy to defraud charges.
Prosecutors claimed that between October 2025 and April 2026, they planned to defraud many residents by falsely saying they could gain government jobs for families.
According to the charge sheet, the accused reportedly deceived five individuals of Ksh500,000 each by falsely promising to acquire TSC and National Police Service posts for their families and issue legitimate appointment letters.

The court heard that the alleged offences were committed in Bomet County, where the suspects are accused of obtaining money by false pretences after promising victims jobs in government institutions.
The case comes amid growing concern over recruitment scams targeting Kenyans seeking jobs in the TSC, NPS and KDF.
Security agencies have repeatedly warned the public against paying individuals who claim they can influence recruitment into the police service or other disciplined forces.

The NPS has consistently maintained that police recruitment is free, merit-based and does not require any payment at any stage.
Similar warnings have been issued during KDF recruitment exercises following numerous cases of fraudsters demanding money in exchange for fake recruitment promises.
In one recent incident, detectives arrested a police constable accused of obtaining Ksh687,000 from a member of the public after falsely promising to secure them a KDF job.
The TSC has also been hit by recruitment scams, with unemployed teachers reportedly losing more than Ksh40 million to fraudsters promising to secure them teaching jobs.
Detectives recently arrested four suspects in Bomet, including a TSC director, a former Bomet Woman Representative aspirant and two teachers, over the alleged Ksh40 million scam.
Authorities also continue to urge job seekers to rely only on official recruitment channels.
