KAJIADO: Another Politician Dies After Short Illness
Simon Mumeita Saitoti, a member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Purko Ward in Kajiado, died at the age of 42 while getting treatment.
Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku reported that Saitoti was admitted on February 26 and slated for surgery, but died while in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“I have received in utter shock the sudden demise of Purko Ward MCA, Hon. Simon Saitoti, at a Nairobi hospital where he was undergoing treatment after a short illness,” Ole Lenku confirmed.
Ole Lenku stated that Saitoti’s death is a significant loss not only to his family, friends, and the people of Purko but also to the county’s political brotherhood.
He hailed him as a man who has demonstrated humility and servant leadership since his time in the disciplined forces.

“For the last two and a half years that he served as an elected leader, Hon. Saitoti stood out as a voice of reason and always advocated for diplomacy to resolve any matters that arose in the county,” Ole Lenku added.
Saitoti was elected to the Kajiado County Assembly on a Wiper Party platform and later served as the Minority Whip.
Until his death, he served on various County Assembly committees.
These include the House Business Committee, the Roads, Transportation, Public Works, and Energy Committee, the Trade, Investments, and Enterprise Development Committee, and the Rules and Procedures Committee.

Justus Ngossor, Speaker of the Kajiado County Assembly, expressed his condolences to Saitoti, saying that the County Assembly had lost a valiant, soldier, leader, friend, and colleague.
He also stated that the County Assembly will take the initiative in organizing the interment.
“Following the surgery, the member was immediately admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until yesterday evening, when he passed away,” said the Speaker.
This comes only days after former Baringo North MP Willy Rotich Kamuren died while receiving treatment in Nairobi on Friday, February 28.
