IEBC Official Arrested During Crackdown On Fake Certificates
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested five public officials, including an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official, as part of an ongoing crackdown on bogus academic degrees.
The suspects, who are current or past workers of several governmental institutions, are suspected of using fake academic credentials to gain employment and/or advancement.
This resulted in the illicit acquisition of public funds worth tens of millions of shillings.
The arrests, which involved other government entities, were announced in a statement by the EACC.
They are the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC).
