SAUTI SOL: Bien Finally Clarifies The Music Group’s Fate
Bien-Aimé Baraza, also known as Bien, has clarified the situation surrounding the boy band Sauti Sol and their yearly Sol Fest show.
Speaking to a local TV station on Saturday, November 29, 2025, the award-winning singer stated that Sauti Sol, a prominent Kenyan Afro-pop band formed in 2005, is simply on hiatus.
“We have never broken up. Sauti Sol said we are taking a sabbatical, and it is very cordial,” Bien stated.
“Si kama group zingine ukiskia watu wamekosana ni mangumi inatembea hapo, hakuna. Ata leo asubuhi nimekuwa rehearsal na Sauti Sol.”
Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi, and Polycarp Otieno are currently pursuing various music careers.

Bien did, however, imply that Sol Fest, a music event dedicated to recognizing and promoting African musical talent, will continue to bring them together once a year so that fans may relive the experience.
However, according to Bien, Sol Fest will not be primarily focused on Sauti Sol and their previous popular tunes.
He added that Sol Fest’s goal is to provide a stage for both emerging and established musicians to excite Kenyan audiences.
Beyond music, the vocalist noted that Sol Fest will reflect the cultural progress of the country.
“However, every year we have Sol Fest, and we play in that festival,” Bien explained.
“I realised that in playing Sol Fest, we are building a platform for artists to come and express themselves.”

Bien envisions a future situation in which Kenyans have the final say on who performs at Sol Fest and what is shown on that stage each year.
“Over the next few years, I want us to make this festival about Kenyans. I want you to curate this festival,” he stated.
“What I can promise is that what will be on stage will be a world-class production.”
