KJSEA: Gov’t Announces Schedule For Grade 10 Placement
The Ministry of Education has stated that the placement of Grade 10 pupils will take place over the next two weeks, with students reporting to their allotted schools next month.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba made the announcement while delivering the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results at Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) headquarters, Mtihani House, on Thursday, December 11.
Ogamba stated that students can already see their results, with school selections and career paths scheduled to be disclosed in a week.
However, for the learners’ academic performance, teachers and parents were directed to the KNEC portal: kjsea.knec.ac.ke/.

The current Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) divides learners into four job pathways: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Social Sciences and Arts, and Sports Sciences.
According to Ogamba, of the 1,130,459 candidates who took the exams, 59.09 percent demonstrated the potential to follow STEM pathways in senior school.

He also stated that 46.25 percent had proven the potential to follow the Social Sciences, while 48.73 percent had demonstrated the ability to pursue the Arts and Sports Sciences course.
Ogamba further stated that the learners would be sent to senior schools depending on their performance and chosen pathways, in accordance with the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms.
During the presser, the CS revealed that the grade 9 learners would transition to the senior schools by January 12 next year, with the learners expected to receive their admission before the said date.

Ogamba noted that the placement portal would remain open for parents or teachers with concerns regarding the placement of the pathways to express their reservations.
“That space is available for the next two weeks, and even after they join in January, we will be able to keep it open so that every question and challenge is addressed and every learner taken care of,” the CS stated.
The CS revealed that the outcome of the learner’s performance was not merely a result slip but a comprehensive report showing how a student performed in the specific areas, their strengths and weaknesses.

Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Julius Bitok, also revealed that the Ministry adopted a similar system to that of revenue allocation to ensure fairness.
