“If You’re Uncomfortable, Leave!” – Oburu Tells Sifuna, Babu Faction
Oburu Odinga has urged the splinter section led by former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino to leave the party if they are dissatisfied with its present political trajectory.
Oburu challenged the gathering to build their own political path outside the party if they disagreed with its current policy.
The Senator was speaking on Saturday in Siaya County at a parallel demonstration known as Linda Ground, which was staged a few kilometers away from the Linda Mwananchi faction’s Kakamega County gathering.
He suggested that the ODM should concentrate on building the next administration and negotiating a power-sharing agreement.
ODM leader Oburu Odinga says the party is not expelling anyone but maintains that those uncomfortable are free to leave.

The ODM leader further stated that members who disagreed with the approach were free to leave and pursue their own political goals.
“ODM, as things stand, must focus on forming the next government and is currently centred on talks over a power-sharing arrangement with the government,” Oburu said.
“If anyone feels uncomfortable with this direction, they are free to leave and pursue their own political path.”
“We want unity within our party, but anyone who feels uncomfortable can leave if they wish. However, we are not expelling anyone from the party,” he added.
Meanwhile, thousands of supporters held a public protest at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega County, where the Linda Mwananchi group, led by Sifuna, insisted on remaining steady in the face of political pressure.
The leaders, including James Orengo, Godfrey Osotsi, and Richard Onyonka, vowed not to be frightened as they continued their statewide mobilisation drive under the Linda Mwananchi Tour.
Orengo accused unnamed political forces of aiming to undercut the party’s leadership structure, insisting that Sifuna remained Secretary General.

The leaders further claimed that the movement was guided by a political vision anchored on a 10-point agenda, arguing that previous agreements contained provisions restricting ODM from entering certain coalition arrangements.
Despite earlier standoffs, including teargas canisters which had been lobbed at Sifuna and his team, the rally proceeded peacefully.
This is despite the earlier security concerns raised by Western Regional Police Commander Isaak Mahoud, who had warned that intelligence reports suggested some individuals planning to attend the event might be armed.
The commander had stated that he never received any formal communication from Sifuna informing him of the planned rally and that he only got news of it from posts circulating on social media.
