Horrific Lorry-Truck Collision Leaves Several People Trapped In Kisumu
A gruesome traffic accident between a lorry and a transit vehicle on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway in Kisumu County has left several people trapped.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, June 27, about 6 a.m., when the lorry hauling sand lost control and collided with a transit vehicle transporting vegetables.
The crash was significant, causing extensive damage to both vehicles and obstructing a part of the highway, resulting in heavy traffic.
The accident also involved a motorcycle that was travelling down the same road at the time of the crash, complicating the emergency response.
Witnesses at the scene reported that several victims were trapped inside the wreckage as rescuers and other members of the public worked to retrieve them.

At the time of publishing this article, several people were still reportedly trapped in one of the vehicles, with some heard crying for help as rescue efforts continued.
Motorists were advised to exercise caution and seek alternative routes where possible as traffic police moved in to remove the wreckage and clear traffic.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established, and investigations are expected to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
The latest development adds to the number of road crashes witnessed over the past month.

Just two days ago, one person died in an accident along the Garissa-Nairobi highway in Mwingi involving an Ambasa Coach bus and a Toyota Prado.
According to a police report, the victim was travelling in the Prado with three other occupants when their vehicle collided with the bus, which was travelling from Wajir to Nairobi.
The police further revealed that the victim died from injuries sustained in the crash, while the three other occupants of the Prado suffered critical injuries and were rushed to the nearest hospital.
Data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) reveal that the country recorded 2,150 road accident fatalities during the first half of 2026, an 11 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Of these, 836 deaths were pedestrians, followed by motorcyclists, with passengers coming third at 318 deaths and drivers at 188 deaths.
