‘Change The Constitution!’ – Atwoli To President Ruto
Francis Atwoli, president of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), now wants President William Ruto to help change the current constitution.
Speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, Atwoli stated that Ruto has many fights to wage, the most important of which is to modify some sections of Kenya’s 2010 constitution.

He stressed that while the President may wish to start a project in the country, the constitution permits individuals to go to court and halt it, even if it is a good idea.
The COTU boss stated that under the current Constitution, he may conclude his term without any projects for the people.
“We will help you but the battle you have is big. The first battle is to help us change the constitution of Kenya,” Atwoli said.

“The President wants to bring us a project, people are running to court, they are stopping it, yet it is a national project.”
He spoke at the Ekambuli Church of God in Kwisero, Kakamega County, where he had joined President William Ruto.
He stated that certain people are exploiting the justice system due to the constitutional provision.

Atwoli stated that President Ruto has the full support of the Luhya community and will assist him in achieving all of his goals for Kenyans.
He also stated that they are willing and quite intentional about it.
“We will help him, tuna uwezo, tuna sababu na tuna nia,” Atwoli said.
Various figures attending included Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, and various elected officials from the county and around the country.
