Wailing Woman Disrupts Governor Sakaja’s Speech With Ruto In Attendance
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja found himself in an awkward predicament on Sunday, November 17, when a woman in distress interrupted his speech.
Sakaja was attending a church service at Nairobi’s Soweto Catholic Church with President William Ruto and other politicians.

Sakaja’s closing remarks, in which he discussed the link between Nairobi and the national government, were interrupted short by a crying woman in the distance.
The governor, taken aback by the woman, attempted to calm the situation by summoning her and promised to handle her concerns.
The entire episode occurred in the presence of President Ruto, who was yet to make his speech at Soweto church.
“It is okay. We will address her concerns. When guests come, residents are relieved,” Sakaja was heard saying as he tried to contain the situation.
“The woman will also get healed. Mummy relax I will take your written plea and help her. Your Excellency, a lot is going on in Kenya.”
This is not the first time the governor has had to publicly confront a deal with a distressed Nairobi citizen.

Sakaja was forced to flee Toi market in August 2024 when villagers threw stones at his convoy.
Sakaja was visiting the market in the aftermath of a fire that was thought to have been caused by an electrical failure.
During the same church session, Sakaja jumped to Ruto’s aid, fiercely defending the Head of State’s development record since Kenya Kwanza took office in 2022.

The governor presented a realistic example to demonstrate Ruto’s need for extra time to complete all of his goals as president.
“The other day I went to Murang’a and people asked me about MauMau Road. But MauMuau stopped fighting in 1963 and we had the first president for 14 years,” Sakaja said.
“The second one for 24 years and the road got worse, the third one for 10 years still no road, the fourth one came, and still no road but you 2 years and the blame is already on you. Is that fair? In two years he solves a 60-year problem.”
President Ruto, for his part, restated to the church his earlier promises of food security, universal healthcare, and affordable housing.
