Preachers Enlisted To The Haiti Mission After Meetings Gang Leader Barbecue
Following the planned international mission to Haiti, President William Ruto has reached out to evangelical pastors in an effort to find a long-term solution to the Caribbean country’s conflict.
According to Reuters, before enrolling the evangelists, Ruto discussed the high-profile anti-gang mission with political advisers, security authorities, and international leaders.
He next met with the preachers who would serve as intermediaries between him and the Haitian villages.
The pastors participating in the mission have met with Haitians in the United States, fellow preachers, and even US government officials.
The preachers went ahead and held a Zoom conference with Haiti’s most feared gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, nicknamed Barbecue.
According to one of the preachers who met with Barbecue, despite the gang leader’s terrible nature, there was hope for transformation, which may signify a step toward putting an end to the carnage.
“We believe that we are a tool that God will use to help,” commented one of the pastors while referencing the imminent mission.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the Kenyan-led multinational force’s solid relationships with Haitian communities will enable it to avoid the mistakes made by other teams during earlier deployments.
“The more you’re connected to the population, the more you can format the kind of intervention you’re going to lead,” noted another pastor.
According to the pastors, Haiti’s issues were spiritual rather than physical, necessitating the intervention of spiritual leaders.
In March of this year, Kenyan pastors began a 40-day prayer campaign for Haiti, hoping for biblical God’s intervention in the country’s upheaval.
“We ask You Father to utterly destroy every Voodoo curse of death that we have,” stated a preacher.
