Ruto Says Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine Is Illegal At The G7 Meeting
President William Ruto has joined other world leaders in condemning Russia for invading Ukraine.
The President described Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as illegal, unjust, and against international law.
He stated that in order to achieve long-term peace, parties to the conflict must demonstrate good faith, abandon unyielding attitudes, and soften their positions.
Russia's aggression against Ukraine is unlawful, unjust and a violation of the fundamental principles of international law.

The President stated that the world must work together to end the conflict.
He spoke on Saturday in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, alongside other world leaders at the inaugural Summit on Peace in Ukraine.
President Ruto regretted that the war had a devastating global impact, including in Africa.
He went on to say that Kenya had not been spared from the war in Ukraine, which had resulted in increased fertiliser prices.
Even as the world focuses on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, President Ruto has urged the world to pay attention to the forgotten wars that are tearing apart Africa’s social fabric.
There is urgency in all parties committing to a path to peace in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. We believe Ukraine’s fidelity to an open and all-inclusive process will usher in a just and sustainable stability between the two countries.

“Africa’s many long-running and long-forgotten wars continue unabated, wreaking unimaginable devastation on a daily basis,” he told the Summit.
He claimed that nearly 16 different conflicts are raging “on our continent,” spanning the Western Sahel to the Horn of Africa in the east, and the Lake Chad basin to the Great Lakes region.
“In the Sudan, a senseless war continues to cause death, destruction and hopelessness among people.”
President Ruto stated that the conflicts are so severe that countries are experiencing acute food insecurity.
He added that the instabilities had resulted in the displacement and death of millions of people.
“This is indicative of a dysfunctional global peace architecture, and a failure of leadership,” he told the world leaders.
