10 Mutilated Bodies Unearthed By Kenyan Activists In Mukuru, Majority Female

On Friday, July 12, at least six bodies were discovered in a quarry pit in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, causing outrage on social media.

The gruesome discovery, spearheaded by local youths, revealed remains in varying conditions, with some packed in sacks and others dismembered.

The majority of the recovered bodies are female victims. According to some media outlets, nine bodies have been recovered, with more believed to be trapped in the pit.

The gruesome scene unfolded near Kware Police Station, directly across from Pipeline, where police have been actively involved in the ongoing rescue operations.

Despite their presence, the identities of the deceased remain unknown, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths have yet to be revealed.

Hussein Khalid, a human rights activist, released a video of some of the recovered bodies as well as a witness’s account of the incident.

According to the unidentified witness, a group of young people saw what they believed to be a dead body and decided to investigate further. When they investigated, they discovered more bodies in the pit.

“We tied ropes and dropped one of us into the pit to check, he confirmed there were other bodies. They are all tied in blue sacks,” the witness stated.

The lack of information has heightened fears in the community, leaving residents uncertain.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, prompting many to look to law enforcement for answers.

As the recovery operation continues, the critical need for a thorough investigation into the victims’ identities and the circumstances surrounding their deaths has become paramount.

This shocking report follows reports of abductions linked to anti-Finance Bill protests that have erupted over the last month.

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has expressed grave concerns, claiming that at least 34 people have been abducted and tortured by security forces since mid-June.

At least five people are still missing, exacerbating concerns about state actions during this difficult time.

Activists warn that those who dared to oppose the contentious Finance Bill are now experiencing anxiety.

The KNCHR, along with other rights groups, has criticized the government’s heavy-handed approach to dissent, with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki vehemently denying any wrongdoing by security agents.

He has assured the public that any claims of abduction will be thoroughly investigated.

“We are committed to protecting every Kenyan from arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances,” Kindiki stated.

The government is under mounting pressure to address the rising tide of unrest. His remarks come in the wake of allegations that state agents are specifically targeting protest influencers.

“We will not tolerate impunity,” he declared, calling for a concerted effort to restore trust in the authorities.
