Mt Kenya MP Threatened For Voting Down The Withdrawn Finance Bill
Juja MP George Koimburi has claimed that he has received threats as a result of his stance on the Finance Bill, 2024, which has since been shelved.
Koimburi, who voted no on the Finance Bill in Parliament, accused his fellow Kiambu politicians, whom he did not name, of making threats and attempting to intimidate him.
Speaking at Nyacaba Secondary School, the MP also revealed that his political stance had caused him to be sidelined in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition.
The Juja MP also claimed that his isolation and ostracism in Kenya Kwanza were the direct result of him allegedly exposing corrupt dealings surrounding the passage of the contentious piece of legislation.

Koimburi and his Githunguri counterpart, Gathoni Wamuchomba, were Kiambu’s only legislators who voted against the bill.
After revealing that he was being followed by unknown individuals, the legislator vowed to contact law enforcement.
During the same event, the legislator also requested that President William Ruto remove Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah from his position as National Assembly Majority Leader.
According to Koimburi, Ichung’wah and Majority Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro had failed both the President and his cabinet.
This follows the MP’s claim on June 25 that MPs were each offered Ksh2 million to vote in favor of passing the bill.
He claimed that the money meant to be given to the MPs was being carried in sacks and if an MP voted ‘YES’, they received the funds.
However, he maintained that he declined to accept the cash because he had a cardinal responsibility to his constituents.
“I refused to sell out the people who elected me. That is why I voted no to reject the bill, which I believe will harm Kenyans,” he explained.
