Wajir Man Found Red-Handed Siphoning Fuel From Telco Facility
A 35-year-old suspected burglar is currently being held at the Garissa Police Station after breaking into a resident telco company’s facility and illegally siphoning fuel from it.
Mukhtar Suleiman allegedly committed the crime in the early hours of Friday morning, along with other unidentified individuals who managed to evade police arrest.
“Acting on intelligence received about the break-in at Halane area during the wee hours of Friday, August 2, 2024, the officers responded swiftly and caught the suspects pants down as they were siphoning diesel from the facility,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement on X.

A notorious break-in artist, Mukhtar Suleiman 35, has been apprehended for his daring escapade of breaking into a telecommunication company facility thanks to the prompt action by officers from Wajir Police Station.

“However, the suspect’s accomplices managed to slip away into the cover of darkness, leaving their comrade in crime to face the consequences.”
Officers discovered three full 20-liter jerry cans, one half-full 20-liter jerry can with siphoned diesel, 14 empty 20-liter jerry cans, and a siphoning pipe at the scene.
The DCI described Suleiman as a ‘notorious break-in artist’ which could mean the suspect has been doing the vice for some time to acquire the experience and confidence he possessed.
Suleiman remains in custody at Wajir Police Station awaiting arraignment, while the search for his accomplices continues.
