Police had to break into the house and discovered the children’s bodies in a pool of blood.
The bodies were taken to the Longisa County Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
According to police, the woman suffered from mental trauma and believes it contributed to the tragedy, but a team is handling the situation and will provide a report following the investigation.
Police said they are also looking into the possibility that the murder-suicide theory was staged.
“We have to investigate it to know what happened. It could be they were killed and the whole thing staged,” said an officer aware of the incident and probe.
Suicide is becoming more common, prompting calls for action to reverse the trend.
Despite financial constraints, the government has been implementing programs to address the trend.
According to police, the trend is worrying and increasing, with up to two cases reported daily.
According to the World Health Organization, such cases are caused by unemployment, death, academic failures or pressures, legal issues, and financial difficulties.
Other reasons include bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history of suicide, alcoholism and substance abuse, depression, and bipolar disorder.
