Kenya’s Papa Wa Roma Finally Meets Pope Francis In Vatican City
Moses Wetangula, Speaker of the National Assembly, met Pope Francis on Monday. Owen Baya, the Deputy Majority leader, introduced a motion.
Members unanimously approved the decision to go on vacation again, just two weeks after they resumed sittings after a month-long break.
“That, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 28(4), this House resolves to further alter its calendar as adopted on 14th February, 2024, and amended on 25th and 26th June 2024, so as to commence its long recess on Friday, 16th August, 2024,” the motion read in part.
Wetangula and the Pope met at the Apostolic Palace, also known as the Papal Palace, in Vatican City, Italy.
In a post on official social media pages, Wetangula, also known as Papa wa Roma, did not provide many details about whether they had discussions, instead expressing his joy at meeting him.
