Police Launch Heated Manhunt For Foreigner Accused Of Defiling Young Kenyan Girls
Two Kenyan women were arrested on Monday for allegedly assisting a South African national accused of defiling Kenyan girls, and police launched an investigation into the matter.
Police in Malindi, Kilifi County, launched a manhunt for the foreigner, who law enforcement agencies believe is running a sex trafficking ring in the country with the help of locals.
A court in Malindi heard that the two women lured and escorted the minors into pedophilia and other indecent acts over a long period of time.
Before the two women were arrested, irate locals and police staged an ambush in Kilifi’s Baobab Area to rescue two minors who had already been allegedly sexually abused.
They are three and six years old, respectively. One parent told journalists that her child came home with ice cream in her hand.
Sensing something was wrong, she questioned the child, who confirmed that she had been sexually abused.
Another distraught parent claimed that the foreigner had sexually assaulted and sodomised her child.
She therefore called on the government to take quick action to bring all those involved to justice.
As a result, the local community put pressure on the government to apprehend the suspect and all of his accomplices before the case goes to court.
Witnesses who spoke with the police and journalists claimed that the 40-year-old foreigner fled on foot into a nearby forest, abandoning his car and belongings.
The Sexual Offenses Act of 2006 imposes severe penalties for child defilement to emphasize the gravity of the crime.
The Act provides for a life sentence for offenses committed by a child under the age of eleven.
The minimum penalty for a victim aged 11 to 16 is 20 years in prison, but this can be increased to life imprisonment if aggravating factors, such as violence or significant harm, are present.
