The government will conduct a nationwide inspection of President William Ruto’s development projects in response to reports of ghost project launches, Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura announced on Thursday.

Mwaura stated that the process will include officials from the President’s Office, who will be tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the projects.

During a media briefing at KICC in Nairobi, the government spokesperson appeared to criticize the launch campaign led by activist Kebaso Morara.

He also stated that the government supported the freedom of expression of those who had spoken out against the government over the aforementioned projects.

However, he urged those who practiced it to do so with patriotism for their country.

The spokesperson added that during the inspection, officials from his and the President’s offices will visit the projects.

He insisted on including those in remote areas to determine which have been abandoned or are lagging despite budgetary allocations.

“We will ensure that what is on paper and what we discuss here in Nairobi is actually happening on the ground,” Mwaura stated.

The spokesperson also admitted that the inspection will take place in response to the outrage expressed on social media.

The inspection also aims to clarify discrepancies between the evidence provided on actual projects and the government’s records.

“There are claims that the reality on the ground differs from the official narrative and we must address this perception,” he added.

Morara Kebaso, a lawyer and activist, launched a campaign several weeks ago to personally inspect state-sponsored projects.

The 28-year-old revealed shocking revelations about some projects that were allegedly abandoned or allocated funds and not completed.

“The projects by the president either never start or if they start, they stall, or if they don’t stall, they are finished with massive looting of public funds,” the activist explained during a recent interview.

Kebaso maintained that his campaign discovered massive irregularities while inspecting the President’s projects.

‘’Everywhere, it’s a crime scene. Kenya is a crime scene. It needs to be fenced off for investigations,” he explained.

However, the government spokesperson told the media that recent viral reports influenced their decision to inspect the projects.

The government has been launching projects, and citizens have reported that they do not know about them.

He added that the state had already dispatched a team to areas such as Homa Bay and Konza City to follow up on some of the projects.
