DP Gachagua Urges Leaders To Listen To Kenyans’ Outcry

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked leaders to listen to the Kenyans who elected them.

Gachagua stated that Kenyans have a say in what leaders should do because they elected them to various leadership positions.

DP urged leaders to listen to the opinions of all Kenyans, regardless of status.

“I want to encourage leaders in the country to please listen to the people,” he reiterated.

Gachagua spoke on Sunday at the ACK St Patrick’s Church in Kayole during the church’s consecration service.

He stated that a good leader is one who listens to the people who elected them and understands how they want to be led.

“Kenyans are now woke, you can no longer cheat the people of Kenya. Kenyans are intelligent and they know everything,” Gachagua said.

“The internet has sharpened them more, they understand everything, and the time for cheating them is over.”

Gachagua emphasized that he will continue to be a truthful man by telling it like it is, despite the fact that some government leaders have criticized his candour.

The DP went on to say that his honesty has been interpreted negatively, portraying him as a poor leader.

Gachagua, on the other hand, stated that being truthful is the best course of action for any leader in the country as times change.

“Let us continue to accept mistakes and forgive each other. No one is an angel, we are all human beings with weaknesses that go with human beings,” Gachagua said.

“If you make a mistake along the way and you realise that you have made one, ask for forgiveness, correct that mistake and be a better person.

“You cannot insist on doing the wrong thing to be seen as a hero. When you find out you have made a mistake, accept it.”

The DP stated that he has aligned himself with Kenyans’ expectations of nothing but honesty and truthfulness.

He urged Kenyan leaders to listen to their people, speak the truth, and accept forgiveness when they make mistakes.

Gachagua described the events leading up to the 2022 general elections, saying they made mistakes, realized them later, and asked for forgiveness.

The DP stated that people who make mistakes and seek forgiveness have a lighter heart.

He urged leaders to embrace servant leadership for the people, saying they should not look down on Kenyans.

“These are the people who chose us and we must work for them. We should not threaten, harass or look down upon them. Let us exercise humility in leadership, let us listen to Kenyans with empathy.”
