Morara Kebaso Sets Record Straight On The Amount Kenyans Donated

Morara Kebaso, a political activist who has stated hope of unseating President William Ruto in the 2027 elections, now claims that Kenyans who support his cause have donated approximately Ksh.6 million to him thus far.

Morara feels he has the qualifications to succeed the Head of State at the House on the Hill.

The famed activist got to prominence in 2024 for his stunts emulating President Ruto’s speeches and political mannerisms while dressed in his popular kaunda outfits.

The outspoken activist compared himself to US President-elect Donald Trump as he disregarded worries from some of his adversaries over criticism for soliciting cash contributions from Kenyans to support his activities.

Morara contends that, despite his status as a well-known billionaire, Trump supposedly spent no money on campaigning and relied solely on well-wishers to support his candidacy.

In the same vein, he claimed that good-willed Kenyans had sponsored his excursions across the country to highlight the government’s inadequate service delivery.

Morara, whose leadership ideals are based on the elimination of corruption, believes that a leader should be funded by the people in order to ensure responsibility.

“Donald Trump did not spend even 10 USD when running for president, yet he is a billionaire. Because when the public finances you, they own you and therefore you belong to them and you are answerable to them,” he said.

“But when you are the one funding the public…you don’t owe them anything, they owe you for what you have given them. That is why you find leaders are justified to steal from the public.”

He added: “We have the PA system and the vehicle which together cost about Ksh.2.5 million, we have covered more than 50,000 kilometres (with) about Ksh.1.5 to 2 million worth of fuel.

“There is also furniture, printers, computers for researchers who come to work every day, salaries and other expenses. Since we started to date, we have spent about Ksh.5 million to Ksh.6 million.”

Following concerns that the 29-year-old was a puppet used to consolidate youth votes for a phantom candidate, Morara assuaged his fans, promising that time would vindicate him.

He emphasized that consistency among growing activists will eventually identify programs and non-projects.

“I am not anybody’s project, I am my own man, made by Kenyans who stand with me,” Morara noted.

“I don’t believe that I would like to consolidate the youth vote for the purpose of selling it to any candidate. If the youths support me, I am home and dry as president. I would not need to sell any of our votes.”

Morara, who created the Inclusive National Justice, Economic and Civil Transformation (INJECT) party, is confident in the faction’s ideas for the nation and believes he will defeat his opponents.

As a result, he stated that his sole legitimate opponent in the 2027 presidential election was Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

He discounted other political figures, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is also rumored to be running for president.

“I personally have no reason to be against the candidature of Kalonzo Musyoka but he also has a lot to tell us; what is this that he wants to do for the country that he didn’t do when he was Vice President? Why was it difficult for him when he was VP?” Morara posed.
