Following his death, the public blamed security agencies for a series of abductions that have shaken the country since the beginning of December.
However, in a statement released on Monday, January 6, the DCI indicated that Muchiri, 27, was most likely slain by an angry crowd following a burglary attempt.
According to the DCI, the deceased and three other accomplices attempted to scale the wall of a rented home.
“Investigations revealed that the deceased, along with several accomplices, had scaled the perimeter wall of a nearby rental property with the intent to commit theft,” DCI’s statement said.
