RICHARD OTIENO: Tanzanian Police Arrests KEY Suspects Of Nakuru Activist’s Murder Case
On Sunday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detained three more suspects in the murder of Nakuru activist Richard Otieno, alias Molo President.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 24, DCI stated that Tanzanian authorities supported its officers in making two of the three arrests.
The three were arrested after the murder Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) conducted a forensic study of the murder site, which linked them to the crime.
Once identified, detectives from the Homicide Investigations Bureau set out to pick up all of the suspects, but only three were apprehended, with several others still at large.
According to the DCI investigation, two suspects escaped to Majahida, Tanzania’s Bariadi District, after perpetrating the murder to avoid detection.
However, Tanzanian officials apprehended them and returned them to the nation on February 21.

So far, police investigations have shown that the culprits were transferred from Molo to Elburgon to commit the horrible crime on January 18.

This is the second wave of arrests in connection with the heinous murder, which prompted Elburgon villagers to assault the mortuary where his body was being held and march to the streets in protest.
On Monday, February 3, the first five arrests in connection with the murder were made after a multi-agency team connected them together using forensic analysis.
According to the DCI, three of the five suspects were the actual perpetrators of the crime, while the other two were bodaboda riders who took them to and from the location.
It was also discovered that two of the suspects apprehended had previously been arrested for assaulting him in late 2024 and sentenced to a year of probation.
