United States Sets Travel Restriction On 3 Separate Dozens Of Countries
This is part of President Trump’s new prohibition, according to sources familiar with the situation and an official document obtained by Reuters.
The document lists 41 countries, separated into three sections.
The top ten countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, would face full visa suspension.

In the second group, five nations – Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan – would suffer partial restrictions affecting tourist, student, and other immigration visas, with limited exclusions.
In the third group, 26 nations, including Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, would be evaluated for a partial suspension of visa issuance to the United States.
However, it will only be activated if their governments “do not make efforts to address deficiencies within 60 days”, according to the memo.
A US official speaking on the condition of anonymity emphasized that the list could change.
He adds that it had yet to be approved by the government, which included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The list of countries was initially reported on by the New York Times.
The proposal echoes President Donald Trump’s first-term ban on travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries.

However, this policy underwent multiple changes before being upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018.

On January 20, Trump issued an executive order requiring increased security screening of any foreigners seeking entrance to the United States to discover national security concerns.
That order instructed several cabinet members to provide by March 21 a list of nations from which travel should be suspended in part or entirely because their “vetting and screening information is so deficient.”
Trump’s order is part of an immigration crackdown that he initiated at the start of his second administration.
In an October 2023 address, he outlined his proposal, promising to limit people from the Gaza Strip, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and “anywhere else that threatens our security.”
