CBK Governor Chased Away From Parliament For Missing Crucial Documents
Kamau Thugge, Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), was expelled by a parliamentary committee on Thursday, June 5, for failing to produce the necessary documentation to back his comments.
Thugge had testified before the National Assembly’s Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity, which is led by Mandera West MP Aden Yussuf Haji.
The Governor had been summoned to answer questions about ethnic diversity and equal employment opportunities at the CBK.
“After carefully reviewing your presentation, the Committee has established that your report lacks the required supporting documents,” the chair stated.
“The invitation letter clearly stated that all submissions must be accompanied by documentary evidence. Unfortunately, this requirement has not been met,” Haji said.
However, the Committee judged his presentation inadequate. They claimed he did not provide evidence to back up the statements he made in his reply.
Haji requested that the Governor modify his submission and return with the required documentation, adding that his existing report would not be acceptable.
Aside from the missing annexes, the Committee determined that the documents supplied had not been signed.

“In addition to the missing annexes, the Committee noted that the report submitted by Thugge had not been signed, a procedural oversight which further contributed to its rejection,” the Committee stated.
Thugge, on the other hand, admitted the inadequacies in his preparation and told the Committee that he would follow all procedural procedures before making another appearance.
Paul Ngugi, CEO of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC), was also sent out during the same session.
The Committee rejected Ngugi owing to insufficient preparation and a lack of supporting material.
