Kalonzo Responds To Kindiki’s Defection Claims
Kalonzo Musyoka has refuted suggestions that he is planning to join President William Ruto’s administration, describing them as diversionary and dishonest.
Kalonzo was replying to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s statements over the weekend, in which he expressed interest in contacting the opposition leader for potential collaboration.
A following The Standard report stated that Kalonzo may be reconsidering his political stance, a development that analysts feared might splinter the opposition’s cohesiveness ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kalonzo quickly responded, dismissing the charges as a “poor attempt to divide the United Opposition.”
The Wiper leader also appeared to take a personal shot at Kindiki, who succeeded Rigathi Gachagua as Deputy President after a high-profile feud inside Kenya Kwanza.
Kalonzo, referring to him as “Mr HalfTam,” sought to call Kindiki’s legitimacy into question and derided his contentious midterm election victory.
This is all diversionary, and poor attempt to divide The United Opposition. I cannot work with or meet up with people with Gen Z blood on their hands including that of Albert Ojwang.

“This is all diversionary and a poor attempt to divide the United Opposition,” Kalonzo said in a statement.
“I cannot work with or meet up with people with Gen Z blood on their hands, including that of Albert Ojwang. Kenyans know the truth, Mr HalfTam: I will always be on the side of the people.”
He was referencing the recent death of Ojwang inside Nairobi’s Central Police Station.
While on a trip of the Ukambani region, Kindiki stated that he had a good relationship with the opposition figure and would explore wooing him to the administration.
“I respect Kalonzo, who is my senior in law and is full of respect for all leaders,” Kindiki stated.
“I will talk to him because what we want to see is the development of the region like every other part of the country.”
The DP has been leading empowerment forums in the region for the past week, visiting Machakos Town, Masinga, Kangundo, Yatta, Mwala, Kitui East, Kitui Central, Kitui South, Kaiti, Kilome, and Makueni.
Kindiki stated that he will look for Kalonzo to discuss and consult on development issues.

“I will look for him as you have tasked me to do so. We do not want him to be misled by those keen to destabilise the country through divisive and tribal politics,” DP assured.
Efforts to entice Kalonzo to join the administration have increased since President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Kalonzo has emerged as the opposition’s lone voice, with government supporters encouraging him to join the coalition.
However, Kalonzo has maintained his stance, previously stating that he will not join the administration, especially if the arrangements do not benefit any Kenyans.
