Over 60 Al Shabaab Militants Attack GSU Camp, Village In Lamu
According to reports, over 60 suspected Al Shabaab terrorists raided Basuba village, which is located within the Boni Forest in Lamu County.
According to reports, heavily armed terrorists attacked the area and started firing indiscriminately, targeting inhabitants in their homes.
According to witnesses, the terrorists initiated the attack on Friday, July 25, about 9 p.m., instilling anxiety in inhabitants who were unable to call for assistance.
According to additional information, a group of militants proceeded to surround the General Service Unit (GSU) police camp, which is located a few meters from the settlement.
Moments later, there was a fierce exchange of fire between officers and militants in the camp.
The exchange lasted roughly an hour, during which the officers successfully repelled the attackers.

During the conflict, the militants reportedly launched four rocket-propelled grenades into the GSU camp and a nearby settlement.
However, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths thus far.
Following the attack, security agencies have intensified operations in the region, with additional deployments expected.
The latest incident increases the number of terrorist attacks in the last three months.
Only a fortnight ago, three Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) officers were slain in the Boni Forest.
Six other military officials were injured during the July 15 ambush when their vehicle collided with an improvised explosive device.
The cops were part of a multi-agency group dispatched inside the forest to carry out Operation Amani Boni.

The operation, which began in September of last year, aims to ferret out the extremists inside the jungle.
Another similar incident occurred in April of this year in the same area, when suspected Al Shabaab terrorists attacked a GSU camp at night.
The accused terrorists organized themselves into three groups for the night attack, which began at 10.45 p.m.
The first group attacked the GSU camp, while the other groups stormed a nearby town in Lamu.
