Autopsy Reveals Vincent Ayomo’s Cause Of Death at Sifuna Rally
Autopsy examinations by government pathologists found that Vincent Ayomo, 28, died from a gunshot wound to the left eye, which broke his spinal cord and destroyed his brain.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, Ayomo died while attending a Kitengela Linda Mwananchi protest led by Sifuna.
The bullet broke his spinal cord, injured his brain, and exited through the back of his head, killing him.
Ayomo, a mechanic and father, was shot on February 15 at a rally in Kitengela. The IPOA has opened an investigation into the incident.

This verifies his family’s opinions, which were first delayed in the post-mortem process at the Nairobi Funeral Home. They believe he was shot by police while coming from work.
A witness’s story backs up the autopsy reports, revealing that Ayomo was simply walking, minding his own business, when he was struck by a stray bullet. It hit his eye.
According to additional witness testimonies, it was raining severely during the event, and when police used teargas to disperse crowds, his body was left exposed on the ground, with a number of landcruisers passing by and providing no assistance.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who led the Orange Democratic Movement Linda Mwanachi group, issued a statement on February 16, announcing the murder of Vincent Ayomo, 28, at the protest.
Sifuna stated that Ayomo was fatally shot by police officers deployed to disperse the crowd using teargas and live ammunition at the February 15 rally.

Sifuna accused President Ruto’s administration of state violence, vowed to pursue justice for Ayomo’s family, and noted that several attendees were injured during the police intervention.
The Sunday rally, dubbed “Linda Mwananchi,” attracted several opposition figures, including MPs Babu Owino and Caleb Amisi, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Senators Richard Onyonka and Godfrey Osotsi, among others.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched a high-priority investigation into the death of Ayomo during the rally.
IPOA Vice Chairperson Ann Mwangi confirmed a rapid response team of investigators has been deployed to Kajiado County, expressing concern over the loss of life and injuries during the rally.
