Gachagua Blasts Police Neglecting Isiolo Banditry, Responds To Githurai Demolitions

Rigathi Gachagua, the leader of the Democracy for the Citizens (DCP) party, accused the government of employing excessive force during the recent night demolitions in Githurai, calling the operation a ‘cowardly move against traders and people’.

Gachagua criticized the deployment of police personnel during the late-night demolition exercise, rather than the government sending them to unsafe areas like Isiolo.

“Ironically, at the very same hour, a tragedy was unfolding in Isiolo where Gatobu, a Deputy Principal and a teacher of Physics and Mathematics at Leparua Secondary School, was being brutally attacked, stabbed severely and butchered by bandits on February 18, 2026,” he stated.

He went on to say that after perpetrating the crime, the same bandits attacked a police station, causing havoc across Isiolo town, stealing cattle, and killing KPR personnel and locals.

He called the government’s decision a misallocation of human priorities and a disdain for human lives.

“Such actions are a grave affront to human dignity and reflect a regime that has lost all sense of compassion and justice,” he added.

He also chastised the administration, claiming that treating individuals as criminals while they suffer with a faltering economy demonstrates a leadership that is distant from the realities of common people.

He ascribed the mismatch to weak leadership and inadequate policies, accusing senior officials of being out of touch with citizens’ challenges.

Gachagua also expressed dissatisfaction with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

He claimed that, despite public vows to promote small enterprises, the government remained aloof from their daily problems, instead focusing on political conflicts with opposition leaders.
