BEATRICE ASKUL MOE: Get To Learn More About Kenya’s EAC Affairs CS Nominee
On Tuesday, July 31, 2024, President William Ruto appointed Beatrice Askul Moe to the East African Community Affairs and Regional Development docket, marking the first step in the formation of his cabinet.
Moe, if approved by the parliamentary vetting committee, will be serving for the first time in the national cabinet after previously serving in a similar capacity in the Turkana County government.

Get to know more about Beatrice Moe:
1. Educational background
Moe has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences (Social Work) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Governance and Ethics.
2. Profession:
Moe specialized in social science and previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation for Turkana County Government.
3. Experience:
She has held positions such as Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson of the Rift Valley Water Services Board’s Technical Committee, Chairperson of the Rift Valley Water Services Board’s Audit Committee, Project Officer of the AMREF Kenya Turkana Project, and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.
She previously served on the Rift Valley Water Services Board. Moe also specializes in community affairs development and management, with a focus on behavioural and social change in communities.
4. Training:
She has also completed several certifications and training programs, including the County Induction Course at Kenya School Government (Turkana County Government) and the Corporate Governance Course (CGC).
She received training in Audit Committees from KCA University (Institute for Capacity Development), a Training of Trainers (TOT) Course for Community-Based Development from AMREF Kenya, and Methodologies for Conducting Baseline Assessment Surveys from the Food Security and Nutrition Improvement Project Turkana.
5. Political activity:
Although she was not a popular national political figure prior to the 2022 general elections, she was involved in Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance activities.
She was on a panel tasked with vetting potential Raila Odinga running mates.
The panel also included Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, and Michael Orwa.
Following successful vetting, she will become Turkana County’s first female CS.
