‘We Have Planned Everything!’ – Hillside Endarasha’s Owner Assures Parents Of Freebies At School On Return
David Kinyua, the owner of Hillside Endarasha Academy, revealed on Tuesday that several changes are being made to the school after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) handed it over for renovation on Saturday.
Kinyua told the press that a committee has been formed to ensure that all of the students who lost their belongings in the fire are provided with everything and that parents will not be required to repurchase anything when school resumes.
“We have planned how the pupils will be given everything. All the way from the mattress, box, uniform, and shoes, so the children will come the way they left,” Kinyua told NTV on September 17.

Regarding the school’s reopening, he stated that he has recalled the parents for a prayer meeting on Monday to discuss the next steps, including reopening, to ensure a smooth transition for the students.
He therefore requested continued prayers from the public as the school prepares to resume once renovations are completed.
Kinyua also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Kenya Red Cross for quickly intervening and providing counseling services to all of the students and individuals affected by the tragedy, which killed 21 students.
He also thanked the DCI for taking over the investigations and stated that everyone was eagerly awaiting the final report.
Hillside Endarasha Academy burned down on September 6, killing 21 students and injuring several others.
What followed was a flurry of investigations that, for a few days, produced more questions than answers.
With an initial 70 students unaccounted for, Kenyans even staged a protest at the school demanding answers from the government.
The state responded quickly, filing a final report in which all of the children were accounted for, which was later released on September 12.
President Ruto initially faced criticism for donating maize and beans during the tragedy, but he later donated Ksh2 million on September 15.
