Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves 9 Dead, Several Injured Along Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway

A police report verified that eight people were killed in two different crashes at the same location involving six vehicles and a motorcycle.

The first crash occurred when the tyre of a trailer driving towards Mai Mahiu blew, colliding with a Premio vehicle, a bus, and a matatu. Three of the matatu passengers died.

Shortly after, another trailer from the same way arrived at high speed and collided with a Prado, killing two people instantly and one later in the hospital.

The trailer also struck a motorcycle, killing two pillion riders.

All of the deceased and injured have been taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital. The number of injuries has yet to be established.

Eight persons are believed dead when multiple vehicles crashed at SGR Section 5, near Duka Moja, on the Narok-Mai Mahiu road in Narok County.

The accident was said to have involved a Prado, a bus, a shuttle, and a trailer.

The trailer’s driver is claimed to have lost control while driving down the Nairagie-Enkare escarpment towards Mai Mahiu, colliding with several vehicles, including a bus and private cars.

In a video shared on X, the aftermath of the accident shows debris strewn across the road, with traffic officers already on the scene.

The number of casualties has not to be determined as of the publication of this story.

The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the collision, indicating that six vehicles were involved and that emergency teams had already arrived on the scene.

They also stated that the injured had been taken to Narok County Referral Hospital.

“A road traffic incident involving six vehicles has occurred at Maltauro, along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Road,” the statement read.

The collision occurred barely one day after another accident was recorded along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway in the Kinungi district.

A Public Service Vehicle (PSV) bus overturned, killing one person and injuring 30 others.
