Nairobi Househelp Arrested For Breaking Employer’s Safe, Stealing Valuables

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have detained a housekeeper who allegedly broke into her employer’s safe and stole various valuable goods.

In a statement released on Friday afternoon, DCI investigators stated that the search for the housekeeper began on March 11.

This occurred after the suspect’s employer reported the incident to the Spring Valley Police Station in Dagoretti, Nairobi County.

The detectives described the incident, revealing that the suspect, who had lived with her employer for 15 months, took advantage of her boss’s absence and stole into the manager’s safe.

According to the sleuths, the boss informed them that the safe held precious stuff.

The items included family passports, foreign national IDs, 4,000 US dollars, gold coins, Diwali figurines, a pen drive, a hard disk, bank locker keys, and perfumes.

“The incident which was reported on March 11, 2025, at Spring Valley Police Station, reveals a tale of betrayal from a trusted employee of 15 months, believed to have stolen a safe brimming with valuable items,” the DCI officers narrated.

When detectives arrived at the crime site, they discovered that the safe, which was previously fastened with screws in a closet, had been carefully unscrewed and stolen.

After several days of searching, DCI detectives from Nairobi Region Headquarters, along with their Dagoretti counterparts, apprehended the suspect at her hiding in Kawangware’s Congo Maumau region.

Following her arrest, investigators searched the suspect’s home and discovered a treasure of stolen items, including 29 $100 bills.
