Governor Natembeya Slams Controversial MP’s Expulsion Remarks
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has condemned Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim’s controversial views and demanded his expulsion from Kenya.
In a statement issued Thursday evening, the outspoken governor described Maalim’s views as not only offensive but also dangerous and extremely unsettling.
While criticizing Maalim, Natembeya said that no one, especially a politician, has the moral or legal power to challenge his Kenyan identity or deprive him of his birthright.
He emphasized that he was born, bred, and schooled in Kenya and that he has dedicated his whole career to public service, beginning with his tenure as a regional commissioner.
According to the governor, his record shows a persistent dedication to the welfare, security, and development of all Kenyans, regardless of ethnicity or area.

“I have taken note of the reckless and deeply troubling remarks by a certain politician who not only questioned my nationality but even suggested I be expelled from Kenya,” Natembeya said.
“Such incendiary statements are false, inflammatory, and strike at the very heart of our shared identity as Kenyans.”
He added: “I was born in Kenya, raised in Kenya, educated in Kenya, and have devoted my entire career to public service in this country from my early days as a Regional Commissioner in high-pressure zones to my current role as Governor of Trans-Nzoia County.”

He also highlighted that his recent appeal for the reintroduction of rigorous vetting standards for national identity issuing in North Eastern Kenya stemmed exclusively from concerns about national security.
Natembeya remarked that border regions face particular issues, ranging from cross-border mobility to the threat of criminal networks, necessitating precautionary precautions.
Addressing MPs on Tuesday, April 22, Maalim warned that Natembeya’s persistent discrimination against specific groups of people could plunge the country into civil war, similar to that seen in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“Natembeya belongs somewhere else; he doesn’t belong to Kenya, by the way. His ideas are crooked, let him leave here and go somewhere else,” Maalim commented.
