“Come Back Please!” – Nairobi Man Begs Wife After Fleeing To Saudi Arabia

A Kitengela father is pleading with the government to intervene after his wife allegedly fled to Saudi Arabia via rogue recruitment agents, leaving him to care for their three children on his own.

Benerd Ongaki said his life altered on June 19 when he sent his wife off to work as normal, only to discover later that she had allegedly travelled to Saudi Arabia without alerting him.

According to Ongaki, he made several failed attempts to reach her before learning from sources that she had supposedly been convinced by agents involved in recruiting Kenyans for jobs in Saudi Arabia.

“In return, for the sake of our children, I plead with her to come back,” Ongaki said.

He added that he fears for her safety because many Kenyans who travel to Gulf countries reportedly face harsh conditions and communication difficulties once abroad.

He further claimed that some agents operating in areas such as Ruiru continue to mislead desperate job seekers with promises of better opportunities abroad.

According to him, many Kenyans later end up stranded or facing hardships after arriving in foreign countries.

The case has once again renewed concerns over rogue recruitment agents targeting unemployed Kenyans seeking jobs overseas amid rising economic hardship and unemployment.

Over the years, thousands of Kenyans have travelled to Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, in search of employment opportunities, mainly in domestic work and the hospitality sectors.
